South of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and not far from Rogers, Arkansas, War Eagle Cavern provides visitors a chance to tour a cavern in a nearly natural state.

War Eagle Cavern is located in Northwest Arkansas on Beaver Lake. The cavern may be reached by both land and water. Highway 12, a scenic state highway, leads visitors by road through the curves of the scenic Ozark Mountains. The visitor who is inclined to spend time on the water may boat on Beaver Lake to Devil's Gap Inlet and follow signs to the War Eagle Cavern Docks.

War Eagle Cavern Tour Highlights

A tour is available several times per day for visitors to the cavern. Each tours is lead by a guide who is as knowledgeable as he is personable. War Eagle Cavern has no stairs to climb or tight entries making the tour accessible and enjoyable for most individuals. A visitor may view fossils, natural rock formations, or even local wildlife which consists largely of tiny bats barely noticeable to the casual observer.

A serious cave explorer or spelunker may schedule a more extensive tour of the cavern. Up to ten people may tour the more primitive portions of the cave. This tour requires proper attire, including jeans, a helmet and a flashlight, as well as a great sense of adventure. A visitor on this tour will get muddy and wet, but will see much more of the cavern than the average visitor.

Other On-Site Activities at War Eagle Cavern

The tour of the cavern is not the only activity for a visitor to this location. A visitor may purchase souvenir rock samples, t-shirts or hats at the War Eagle Cavern Gift Shop. A restaurant is available to visitors who arrive near meal time. Adults and children alike enjoy panning for minerals in the sluice outside of the gift shop. An adventurer may take the time to wind her way through the maze which is also on the grounds of War Eagle Caverns.
