Visit and Explore these Unique Ozark Caverns

Throughout the region of Northwest Arkansas, caverns are common. A person interested in natural landmarks such as caves has many options while visiting Arkansas.

From Rogers to Harrison; Arkansas offers many beautiful sights. Some of the most amazing sights to be seen are the caverns. Onyx Cave, Cosmic Caverns, War Eagle Caverns, Mystic Caverns, and Crystal Dome Caverns are only a few of these caverns. For those true cave enthusiasts, a visit to Beckham Creek Cave Haven is a must.

Onyx Cave

Onyx Caves is the oldest, but one of the smaller caves in Arkansas, but it is conveniently located off Highway 62 near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Visitors enter the cave through a set of stairs leading down from the gift shop. Tours are self-paced and consist of recorded transmissions which are heard through headsets.

Cosmic Caverns

Near Berryville, Cosmic Caverns offers a tour lasting over an hour. Some of the highlights of this tour include two bottomless lakes featuring colorless trout who have adapted to life in the dark, blind salamanders, and a large population of bats. Visitors may also spend some time panning for gold and other minerals in a sluice outside the cave. A wild cave tour is also available.

War Eagle Cavern

Halfway between Rogers and Eureka Springs, War Eagle Caverns is one of the newer caverns open to the public. Featuring an hour long tour, gift shop, mineral panning, a picnic area, restaurant and a maze for children, this cavern provides something for everyone. For the adventurer, a wild cave tour offers a taste of spelunking and a view of the cave most visitors do not see.

Mystic Cavern & Crystal Dome Cavern

Mystic Caverns, near Harrison and Marble Falls, was discovered around the turn of the twentieth century when visitors entered through a sinkhole entrance. Crystal Dome Cavern originally called, "Old Man Moses Cave" is a nearby cavern which is included in the price of the hour and a half long tour through Mystic Cavern. A rock museum and gift shop are additional attractions.

Beckham Creek Cave Haven

For the true cave enthusiast, Beckham Creek Cave Haven is an accommodation built in a cave. Although this house features modern accommodations, as well as natural cave walls and ceilings. This cave house is available for private rentals and parties. Many outdoor activities, such as spelunking, rock climbing, hiking and fishing are available nearby. Beckham Creek Cave Haven is located in the Buffalo National River region.

An outdoor enthusiast will enjoy a visit to Northwest Arkansas, especially these caverns. A visit to any of these caves or caverns will be an experience to remember.
